Chuck Jencks

Deacon of Maintenance and facilities

Chuck serves as the Deacon of Maintenance and Facilities.  His main roles include maintaining the church building and overseeing capital improvements to the facility. He hopes to maintain an inviting place where people would feel welcomed and find Jesus. In addition, Chuck is also an adult Sunday School teacher and volunteers with his wife Paula in Hubtown Kidz.

As a young adult Chuck trusted Jesus as Savior in 1983 and was baptized at Americus Baptist Church in Americus, Kansas. After a 40 year career in engineering and construction, Chuck recently retired and is now able to spend more time with friends and family.

He and Paula have been married since 1983 and have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren.

Chuck enjoys gardening, woodworking, and restoring old equipment of all kinds. He also enjoys swapping stories and “dad jokes”.

Bryan Kelvington

Deacon of Security

Bryan serves as our deacon of security and also volunteers in Hubtown Kidz and on our Media team.

When he was 8, Bryan trusted Jesus and was baptized at FBC Ranson. After graduating high school, he worked with the youth group for a few years before leaving for the Air Force as a A10 Crew Chief. After 12 years of service, he returned to run his family’s tire and automotive business.

Bryan and his wife Wendy have been married since 2002. They have 4 kids, 2 boys and 2 girls. As a family they love to go camping and on vacations. They enjoy the outdoors and love to hunt, fish, and ride horses.

When Bryan is not busy with work or spending time with his family, he loves hanging out and fellowshipping with his church family.

Wendy Kelvington

Deaconess of CHildren’s ministry

Wendy serves as the Deaconess of Hubtown Kidz, which is our children’s ministry. She delights in seeing children marvel at the wonder of Jesus.

After marrying her high school sweetheart Bryan in 2002, she began homeschooling their 4 children, Cayden, Holden, Londyn, and Maddyn. She attributes her love for children to the fact that her mother had 9 children, leaving her with almost 60 nieces and nephews.

Wendy began to see her need for Jesus at a young age, and once she was older desired that her life be used as a vessel to point others to Christ.

If she is not at the church, homeschool community or with her family you can find Wendy camping or at the beach.

Bobbie Schroyer

Deaconess of Shut-in care

Barbara, aka Bobbie, serves as Deaconess of Shut-in Care, working with the pastors to facilitate care for our homebound members.

She is married to Vern and is blessed to have a big family—3 sons, 2 step-daughters, 10 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.

Bobbie was just a baby when she first came to First Baptist Church. After 18 years she left. But eventually she came back, and has been here for 21 years.

She enjoys spending time with family and friends, but most highly enjoys helping others and serving the Lord with her gifts. After 21 years, she retired from her day job and now spends her days babysitting her grandchildren, when she’s not making sure the church building is in pristine condition for the weekly activities.

Brad Turner

Deacon of hospitality

Brad serves as the Deacon of Hospitality.

He makes sure there are always smiling and inviting faces to greet members and guests of Hagerstown Church. He also works to organize resources for church meetings and events.

Brad came to saving faith in Christ in 2018 after hearing the gospel proclaimed at our sending church, The Church at Martinsburg, and was baptized with his wife, Tara.

Brad is also a father to Karsyn and Camden. In his spare time you’ll find him exploring the outdoors with his family or coaching his kids’ sports teams.
